Riverdale is a unique neighbourhood in Central Edmonton. It is bounded by the River Valley escarpment on the north and west and by the North Saskatchewan River on the east and south. 

Nestled in the bend of the river (hence its name), Riverdale provides fantastic access to two of Edmonton’s finest features – the River Valley and the downtown core.

Real estate in Riverdale provides a wide range of options including contemporary properties, traditional properties, luxurious condos, and spacious duplexes. Most of the homes were built during a construction boom in the 2000s, which is quite rare for an inner city neighbourhood. Some of the homes were built before 1946 and a number more were built in the 1970s when there was a small increase in residential development.

Residents are just one kilometre from City Hall and can access numerous amenities in the downtown core. The neighbourhood is connected to the south side of the river by two bridges: The Dawson Bridge and the Low Level Bridge. 

Initially, Riverdale was the site of a lumber mill and brickyard. Surrounded by lush green parks, it is now a desirable residential community with mature trees and charming homes on quiet streets. Even after some redevelopments, there are still reminders of its history with cottage-type homes, the small church and the brick school.
